West Coast Blues

Posting Number 3601   Date: 10/22/21     Return to Posting List

I had always hoped to find the #7307, 2-line pillar bowl pictured in the last several Gazettes, in the unknown blue jade color, but had to settle for a 4.75 inch, footed berry bowl as my only example of the color. It has a clear fleur-de-lis, and whether its source was from a west coast dealer, or not, I cannot recall, but had always understood that it seemed to have been a west coast phenomenon.

On a personal note, I cannot imagine the fortitude it must have taken for Alan Shovers to put his marvelous collection on the market. Though I am about the same age, and know I should dispose of my collection, I am unable to start the dispersal process. Should any member, or simply a Steuben admirer, be in the San Diego area, I hope they will stop by for a chance to look over my accumulation of about 700 pieces of Mr. Carder's work. Perhaps it is a fool's errand to collect Steuben in earthquake country, but I still enjoy these objects of my passion, and would love to share.

Best regards,

David Chadwick-Brown

Where Are The Sinclaire Collectors?

Hi Alan,

I just found out about a major collection of Sinclaire Glass that was made in the Bath area. Upstate Auction Company is doing the auction on Hibid. It ends the 28th of this month. Viewed it myself and there are some nice pieces. Just thought I would let some of our members know.
