Anything You Collect, I Collect Better

Alan and Susan Shovers

Evansville, Indiana

In the 1920s glassmakers Frederick Carder in the USA on behalf of Steuben, and Charles Schneider in France, under the brand names of "Le Verre Francais", "Schneider France" and "Charder", followed parallel paths in colored glass creations of the Art Deco style and acid etching. While Carder is famous for his creation of over 100 colors, Schneider is known for vivid colors used in his designs. Alan Shovers has been a long time Carder collector. His wife, Susan, is mad about color, particularly the color Tango, and has gravitated to and developed her own collection of Schneider creations.
